Prompt Beginner Claude

Meeting Notes to Action Items

What You Get

Clean, organized action items pulled from your raw meeting notes. Each item gets an owner, a deadline, and priority level.

The Prompt

Paste your notes after the prompt. Doesn’t matter how messy they are.

Here are my raw meeting notes. Extract every action item, decision, and follow-up.

For each action item, give me:
- Task (clear, specific, starts with a verb)
- Owner (who's responsible — use the names mentioned)
- Deadline (if mentioned, otherwise mark "TBD")
- Priority (High / Medium / Low based on context)
- Context (one sentence on why this matters)

Also create two separate sections:
1. DECISIONS MADE — things that were agreed on
2. PARKING LOT — things mentioned but not resolved

Format the action items as a numbered list. Put them in priority order.

Here are the notes:

Example Input

You don’t need to clean up your notes. Claude handles stuff like this:

talked about the rebrand - sarah said new logo by friday
john wants to push the launch to march maybe?
need to figure out pricing still, everyone agreed $49 starter tier
maria will send the competitive analysis she mentioned
oh and we need to cancel the old hosting before it renews on the 15th

What You Get Back

Organized action items like:

  1. Design new logo — Owner: Sarah, Deadline: Friday, Priority: High
  2. Cancel old hosting — Owner: TBD, Deadline: Before the 15th, Priority: High
  3. Send competitive analysis — Owner: Maria, Deadline: TBD, Priority: Medium

Plus decisions and parking lot items separated out.

Tips

  • Paste the transcript if you have one. More context means better extraction.
  • Follow up with “Format these as tasks I can paste into Notion” or “Turn this into a Slack message for the team.”
  • For recurring meetings, add: “Compare these action items to last week’s and flag anything that was carried over.”
