WTF Is Building With AI

The Friday bridge from "I chat with Claude" to "I built a small thing with Claude." No CS degree. No tech-bro energy.

— chatter → builder.

Vibe coding, automation, agents — demystified. Same shape every time so the unfamiliar words become familiar. Live tiny builds, plain-English map, one thing to try before next Friday. Repetition is the whole strategy.

10am, every other Fri pull up a chair → bring your build.

You don't need to install anything. You'll watch me build live. If you can type into a chat window, you can do this. The terminal stuff is optional — we name what's needed when it shows up.

Every time, same shape

The same 55-minute pattern, mixed up.

i.

What vibe coding is

And what it isn't. We name the thing in plain English. You'll leave with a definition you can repeat at a dinner party.

ii.

Live tiny build

A small automation or agent, made in front of you. Real prompts, real screen, real "oh wait that didn't work" moments.

iii.

The map

Projects vs. Skills vs. Agents vs. Claude Code — plain-English map so the terms stop blurring together.

iv.

One thing to try

Without melting your brain. A small experiment you can run in 20 minutes before next Friday.

✺ ✺ ✺
The vocab

Words that stop being scary.

By the third Friday, none of these sound made up anymore.

Vibe coding
Building software by describing what you want, in plain English, to an AI.
Agent
Claude doing more than one step on its own. Not a robot. Not Skynet. Calm down.
Skill
A packaged set of instructions Claude can reach for. Like a cheat sheet it pulls out when relevant.
Project
A Claude.ai folder with shared context. You've probably already used one without knowing.
Claude Code
Claude in your terminal, with tools to read and edit real files. The "developer mode."

FAQ

A few plain-English answers.

Do I need to know how to code?
No. That's the whole point. You need to be able to type into a chat window and read English. The "building" we're doing is described in plain language — Claude writes the code, we direct it.
What if I've never used Claude?
Come to WTF Is AI on the alternating Friday first — that's the "open Claude for the first time" session. Then this one will land softer.
Do I need to install anything?
No. You'll watch me build live. If you want to follow along, a free Claude.ai account is plenty for most things we demo. The terminal stuff (Claude Code) is optional and we name what's needed when it shows up.
What's the difference between this and Show & Tell?
Show & Tell is mixed-level Wednesdays for people already building — workflow tours, hot seats, community demos. This is the evergreen Friday on-ramp into building. Different room, different vibe. Once this clicks, Wednesdays are where you go next.
Will it feel tech-bro-y?
No. The whole reason this session exists is because most "intro to building with AI" content sounds like a 24-year-old explaining crypto. We talk like humans. Nobody name-drops their stack.
Is it recorded?
Yes. Recordings go to newsletter subscribers after each session.
see you Friday —

From chatter to builder.

RSVP for the next Friday and the Google Calendar invite — with the Meet link — arrives immediately. By the third one, "agent" stops sounding made up.
